Sunshine Foundation flight takes off from Atlantic City International.
State Police and U.S. Secret Service agents volunteered their time to assist the special-needs young people onto the Miami Air jet on a nippy morning at ACY. They landed in the relatively balmy Florida sunshine and spent the day at Universal Studios near Orlando, Fla. There the children met the "Flintstones." At the airport on the way home they spent time with Santa Claus and an Elf, who led the young people in a round of Christmas carols.
They returned about 10 p.m. to a snowy New Jersey evening and were greeted by airport volunteers with gift bags provided by the Sunshine Foundation with the cooperation of many companies that provided Santa dolls, candy canes and the like. The Philadelphia-based foundation was created to respond to the wishes of seriously ill, physically challenged or abused children -- and has served more than 30,000 youngsters so far.
