New Commissioner Sworn in at SJTA

Hamilton Township, NJ- The South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) welcomed its newest Commissioner Wednesday February 6, 2013 as Peter C. Elco was sworn into office at SJTA Administrative offices at the Farley Service Plaza. He replaces longtime Commissioner Louis Toscano, who recently resigned.

Mr.Elco served as the mayor of Absecon City in Atlantic County for 24 years and a City councilman for eight years. He also served on the Absecon Planning Board, the Municipal Alliance, the N.J. League of Municipalities, the Atlantic County Mayor’s Association, the Absecon Board of Education and many other civic organizations.

Mr. Elco retired after 33 years as a teacher at Holy Spirit High School in 2005 and most recently served on the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority (ACCVA) as the Intergovernmental Relations and Foundation Director, leaving that post in 2011.

Commissioner Elco and his wife are the proud parents of three children and three grandchildren.
