FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (February 9, 2005) – Spirit Airlines announces new service from Atlantic City International Airport. Spirit will resume service to Detroit on May 18, 2006 with connecting service to San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Service to San Francisco starts May 25, 2006.
These new flights will be served with Spirit Airbus A319 aircraft holding 138 passengers with 8 in Spirit Plus, Business Class and 130 in comfortable coach class. Spirit will complete its transition to an all new Airbus fleet by this fall.
"Atlantic City is very important to Spirit,” said Barry Biffle, Chief Marketing Officer of Spirit Airlines. "We’re thrilled to resume service to Detroit with continuing service to San Francisco as well as connecting service to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. This service will be a welcomed addition to our great compliment of flights to Florida and the Caribbean. We look forward to full flights all summer long.”
"This is good news for Atlantic City International Airport and the region it serves," said Acting Executive Director James R. Iannone. "This is good news for our market, with Spirit Airlines restoring its Detroit flight with connections to the West Coast, I expect ACY's growth to regain the momentum experienced in past years."
"Spirit resuming the Detroit flight will again offer South Jersey residents a better range of air service - which is key to the continuing growth of ACY," said SJTA Chairman Frank Spencer. "We are committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities such as the ACY parking garage and other public service amenities necessary to stimulate new service."
