BERLIN-CROSS KEYS BRIDGE WIDENING PROJECT UPDATE
Bridge 37 on the Berlin-Cross Keys Road will close beginning 12:01 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009. The bridge will remain closed until 5:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009. Work on the Atlantic City Expressway underneath the bridge is continuing but will have no impact on traffic.
The nine month widening project, which remains on schedule, will improve safety and reduce congestion on the ramps to the Expressway. Other closures will occur later when beams are being set to widen the Bridge. These closures will be during nighttime hours between Tuesday and Thursday 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Notice for these closures, slowdowns and/or lane shifts will be at least 7 days in advance utilizing on site Variable Message Signs (VMS). The closures are tentatively scheduled to start about the last week of June.
Detour signage has been placed on Berlin-Cross Keys Road for the bridge 37 raising and widening over the Atlantic City Expressway at exit 41.
From the Black Horse Pike (Route 42) detour north onto Williamstown New Freedom Road and proceed north to exit 38 and enter the Atlantic City Expressway going east or west.
From the Black Horse Pike (Route 42) detour to Williamstown New Freedom Road and proceed north to Sicklerville Road and turn left to Berlin Cross Keys Road and turn right onto Berlin Cross Keys Road north.
From Sicklerville Road, take detour to Williamstown New Freedom Road and turn right onto Williamstown New Freedom Road south to either exit 38 and enter the Atlantic City Expressway going east or west, or continue south to the Black Horse Pike (Route 42).
