Atlantic City Expressway Ready for Memorial Day

Hamilton Twp (Atlantic County), NJ – The South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA), owner and operator of the Atlantic City Expressway (ACE) and the Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) are ready for increased holiday traffic due to the unofficial beginning of Summer 2013 this weekend.

Memorial Day is observed on Monday May 27 and the weather is predicted to be “sunny and delightful” according to www.accuweather.com.

“The roadway is in great shape, and in anticipation of increased traffic the holiday will bring, all construction has been scheduled to avoid lane closings” said SJTA Acting Executive Director Sam Donelson. “The third lane westbound widening project will continue, and two lanes will remain open at all times to minimize travel delays” he added. “At ACY, we recently completed a 75,000 square foot addition to our terminal and the easy access and convenience of the airport makes it a logical choice for anyone seeking to visit the Jersey Shore using air travel.” Mr. Donelson continued.

At the Farley Service Plaza, located at milepost 21 on the ACE (about halfway to Atlantic City), CBS 1210 AM will be broadcasting live from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon (May 24, 2013). A Farm Market also begins seasonal operation, opening daily at 9:00 a.m. supplementing the shops and stores in the Plaza.

Motorists are encouraged to sign up for up to the minute traffic alerts at www.511nj.org or check the Authority website at www.sjta.com.
