ATLANTIC CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AIRPORTS COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL (ACI) AIRPORT HEALTH ACCREDITATION

Egg Harbor Township, NJ – January 12, 2021 — The South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) is pleased to announce the Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) recently received the Airport Health Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI). The accreditation was based on an assessment of how aligned the airport’s health measures are with ACI’s Aviation Business Restart and Recovery Guidelines, as well as the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Council Aviation Restart Task Force recommendations along with industry best practices.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have introduced several significant measures to provide the safest travel experience for our passengers, as well as all employees at the airport,” said Tim Kroll, IAP, ACY Airport Director. “This global accreditation highlights our continued commitment to safety protocols that have been implemented in conjunction with all of our business partners at the airport.”

ACI assessed the airport’s response and safety measures throughout the entire passenger journey, including terminal access, check-in areas, security screening, boarding gates, retail, food and beverage concessions, baggage claim area and arrivals exiting. ACI recognized ACY for cleaning and disinfection, physical distancing, staff protection, physical layout modifications, passenger communication and passenger facility enhancements.

ACY implemented the following safety measures amongst others:
• Face covering requirements for passengers and employees
• Social distancing markings throughout the terminal especially at traditionally congested areas like check-in, TSA checkpoints, boarding gates and baggage claim
• Installation of over 40 hand sanitizing stations throughout the airport
• Plexiglass at ticket & gate counters, TSA checkpoint and retail locations
