Congressman LoBiondo secures $800,000 in federal grants for Atlantic City International Airport

Egg Harbor Township, NJ Officials at Atlantic City Intentional Airport today announced the receipt of grants that will allow for improvements to perimeter fencing and the purchase of new aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment. The allocation was obtained by U.S. Representative Frank LoBiondo.

The grants will provide $727,732 for a new aircraft rescue truck and $93,960 for an environmental study related to perimeter fencing. Both projects are key to ongoing security and safety efforts at the airport.

The commitment of federal resources to our nations security is further demonstrated by these grants, said Congressman Frank LoBiondo, Second District. This will help Atlantic City International Airport maintain the safety of the public and provide support to the New Jersey Air National Guard.

At a time when all eyes are on safety and security in air travel these funds will help us maintain the level of comfort that our passengers expect, said Samuel L. Donelson acting executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, the owner and operator of the airport.

The purchase of a new aircraft rescue truck will replace an older vehicle that is no longer serviceable. Relocating a perimeter fence line will maintain required airport security. The environmental study is required as the Airport is within the National Pinelands Reserve area.
