Raising Osprey Nesting Platforms

WHAT: Raising osprey nesting platforms to support the continued resurgence of one of NJ’s largest raptors for today and the future.

WHO: SJTA Executive Director Stephen F. Dougherty, City of Atlantic City Mayor Frank M. Gilliam, Ben Wurst of Osprey Project NJ, representatives of NJ Fish and Wildlife, Stockton University faculty, staff and students and local environmentalists.

WHEN: Friday, March 29, 2019, 2 p.m. (1:30 p.m. media) with rain date of April 1, 2019

WHERE: Vantage point from Atlantic City’s Bader Field – map attached.

DETAILS: Join guests of the city of Atlantic City and the SJTA to witness the next project of SJTA’s Roadway Environmental Advancement Initiative (READI) with the installation of three nesting platforms mounted on 12-foot posts buried 4 feet into the marsh bed offering some good visuals. The nesting platforms will ensure the continued restoration of these magnificent raptors, some with wing spans reaching over five feet.
