ACY implements new security measures

The Atlantic City International Airport has been directed to implement new, relaxed security requirements regarding acceptable carry-on items for airline passengers at all U.S. airports.

ACY been instructed by the Transportation Security Administration to help implement some changes to the strict ban on liquids, gels and aerosols on carry-on baggage that was instituted in August.

As of today, travel sized versions of these items will be permitted to be carried aboard the aircraft.

Liquids, gels and aerosols like creams, lotions, toothpaste, hairspray and make-up will now be permitted as long as they are in travel-sized containers of less than 3 ounces.

All of these travel-sized items must fit comfortably into a quart-sized, clear plastic bag these are usually about 7 inches wide and eight inches in length -- about the size of a sandwich bag. Only one bag per individual is permitted.

Another change is that travelers may now bring items, including beverages, aboard the aircraft if they are purchased beyond the security screening area in the sterile area on the second floor of the ACY terminal building.

Finally, the TSA will continue to allow liquid medicines and baby formula in amounts greater than 3 ounces but will require travelers to officially declare those items and have them screened.

The Atlantic City International Airport customer services representatives are there to help educate passengers about the new requirements.
