The AC Expressway is the way to go to get to the air show!

HAMMONTON – The Atlantic City Expressway is geared up and ready to handle additional weekday traffic entering Atlantic City for tomorrow’s Atlantic City Air Show.

“The expressway is the way to go to get to the show,” said James R. Iannone, acting executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, which owns and operates the expressway.

Attendance at the annual air event, which features the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, is expected to be higher than normal because of the addition of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels this year. Last year’s event drew about 300,000 spectators.

Travelers on the Expressway have three ways to get into the city, they include: taking Exit 2 (Rt. 40/322) to the Black Horse Pike to designated parking areas; taking the Expressway directly into the city; and taking the AC Connector which offers several routes into the northern part of the city.

Traffic will flow smoothly in part because the Pleasantville Plaza, the gateway to Atlantic City, features two E-Z Pass Express lanes which enable motorists to pass through the tolls at speeds as high as 45 mph.

The SJTA also offers parking at its three Atlantic City parking facilities: at Fairmount and Mississippi avenues: Atlantic and Mississippi avenues: and the New York Avenue parking garage between Atlantic and Pacific avenues, one and a half blocks from the Boardwalk.
